Keeping Jurisdiction J (JJ) Providers Informed

In late October we provided an update on the transition of the Jurisdiction J (JJ) Medicare Administrative Contractor (MAC) from Cahaba, GBA to Palmetto, GBA. Since then Palmetto has added a lot of new information to the JJ Transition Hub. This week we look at some of the new updates.

November 15, 2017: Frequently Asked Questions Updated

Palmetto updated the JJ Transition Frequently Asked Questions on November 15th. To make it easier for providers to know what is new, all updates are in red. In addition to once again providing you with the various ways to contact Palmetto, GBA, following are a few of the new FAQs found in this now fourteen page document:

Question: How do I submit a transition question for response?

Answer: Palmetto GBA has several ways JJ Providers can submit transition questions for response. Our preferred mechanism is submitting them via social media by tagging us at our Twitter or Facebook page:

Can we get a contact person for someone in the medical review department to discuss MAC targeted probe and educate and CERT audits?

Answer: As part of the Targeted Probe and Educate (TPE) process, providers will have one-on-one education with the clinician who reviews their claims sample.

Is there an automated way to access demand letters and Additional Documentation Request (ADR) results letters on your website as these often get lost in the mail?

Answer: Demand letters will be available on eServices after the transition date. The Medical Review, CERT and first level appeal results information will also be available under the eReview tab in eServices.

Will there be an Audit & Reimbursement phone line?

Answer: Audit & Reimbursement contact information will be published on the website closer to transition.

We have not had a wage index adjustment in years. Will these be possible with Palmetto GBA?

Answer: The wage index is determined and issued each year by CMS. The MACs do not determine wage index.

There are two remaining Jurisdiction J Transition Teleconferences scheduled prior to the transition dates. No registration is required to attend these monthly teleconferences.

Jurisdiction J (JJ) Transition Workshop Handout

Palmetto, GBA spent time in Alabama, Georgia and Tennessee providing in person workshops. For those that were unable to attend a session, the Workshop Handout has been posted to Palmetto’s Outreach and Education webpage.

Palmetto has updated the transition date information to include the new Contractor/Payer numbers by state.

Current Contractor/Payer Number: Alabama – 10101, Georgia – 10201, and Tennessee – 10301
NEW Contractor/Payer Number: Alabama – 10111, Georgia – 10211, and Tennessee – 10311

JJ Part B (GA, AL, TN)
Effective Date 2/26/2018
Current Contractor/Payer Number: Alabama – 10102, Georgia – 10202, and Tennessee – 10302
