Happy Social Work Month
Elevate Social Work
March is National Professional Social Work Month. This year’s theme is “Elevate Social Work.” The National Association of Social Workers (NASW) notes that “every day, the nation’s 680,000 social workers work to empower and elevate millions of people, including some of the most vulnerable in our society.”
A few of the highlights of the 2019 Social Work Campaign include:
- A Social Work Month online toolkit at www.socialworkmonth.org;
- An infographic exploring social work salaries and where in the country social workers tend to be better compensated; and
- A public service announcement that can be shared on social media or television.
This year while celebrating all Social Workers, I want to acknowledge all of the wonderful social workers who have specialized in hospital social work that I have worked with or who have been an invaluable resource in my own life when family members have been hospitalized.
The transition of care from an inpatient hospitalization to a post-acute setting can be a very stressful time. As MMP, Inc. has done in years past, we are providing a list of resources to assist with discharge planning.
